Uganda

Uganda, the pearl of Africa…is the land of romance and of the unexpected.

Henry Morton Stanley – 1898

This landlocked country in equatorial Africa won’t be on the must-go list of the average traveller. But don’t be put off by its location or history.

We discovered it to be a country with good infrastructure, a surprising variety of landscapes, friendly people, and accessible wildlife. Unlike neighbouring Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda, tourism has yet to make an impact here. It is ripe for exploration.

We flew into Entebbe, and, after a couple of days by the shores of Lake Victoria, we rented a big old Toyota 4X4. Our route took us north-west to Murchison Falls National Park and then south to the Rwanda border, where we dropped the car off.

I’m no wildlife photographer, but this country is blessed with a wonderful variety of the most magnificent animals. Even an amateur like me managed to capture these images.
