Jordan

Jordan offers a lot to people who are not into history.

But to people who are, it’s like Disneyland. While my poor partner just wanted to eat the food, I just wanted to eat the architecture. Jordan is not just Petra; this piece of land has been continuously occupied since the Paleolithic era, and I found myself wandering around fascinating sites just about every day.  Ottoman, Roman, Biblical, Byzantine, Crusader, Nabataean, Arabic and other cultures all left their mark.

Of course, most people don’t give a toss about any of that, so the video I made of our two-week trip will leave them asking: but what was the food like?

All I can say is the scenery, the lovely people, the ease of travel, and, yes, the food, are good enough reasons to recommend Jordan.

Also, you can stand on an old steam train in the middle of the desert and pretend you are Lawrence of Arabia.

This map shows the twelve sites featured in the video I made during our two-week trip.
