Indonesia Boat Trips

Two very different boat trips on two very different islands in Indonesia. The Borneo trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience; the Flores trip was a lot of fun.

Orangutan Encounters in Borneo

We booked this trip at the last minute. I think we got lucky with the crew who got us in to the all the right places at the right times. A couple of the encounters we had went way beyond anything we had expected. The whole thing wasn’t cheap but it was money well spent.

Two passengers, three crew, one river, and a lot of wildlife.

A Liveaboard Trip in Flores

The picturesque town of Labuan Bajo is located at the western end of the island of Flores, close to the famous Komodo Island. From there it is easy to book a “liveabord” boat trip for a few days. You tend to get what you pay for and our trip was at the budget end of the spectrum but it was all good fun.

By pure coincidence my companions were all Italians. They all exuded a typically Italian zest for life. This video was made with them in mind.
