Chiang Mai
An ageing backpacker in a digital world

Chiang Mai

The Old City was different this time around. It’s quiet around here – too quiet.

It wasn’t exactly tumbleweeds and the sound of crickets as I rode into town but checking into my hostel was a strangely lonely experience.

Still, the lack of tourists added to the charm of a city I have become fond of.

This video contains a description of two types of accommodation that are widely available in Thailand as well as a whistle-stop tour of Chiang Mai city.

I knew nothing about the international organisation that is the Hash House Harriers. It turns out they are all completely mad.

With it’s large expat community I had previously found Chiang Mai to be a great place to meet up with various groups of people. Under the current pandemic however there wasn’t much on so I left my comfort zone and did something totally new.

YouTube decided that this video deserved an 18+ certification so you might have to click a few buttons before you get to see it (don’t worry, it won’t scare you).

Inside Thailand’s Green Light District

I got the straight dope from somebody in the know.
