Going from Jaipur to Agra to Delhi to Amritsar might sound like a bit much to squeze into a couple of days and it wasn’t helped by a delayed plane but it actually worked out pretty well in the end.
The short flight from Jaipur to Agra was cheap, the fast train from Agra to Delhi was convenient, and the flight from Delhi to Amritsar was aided by the excellent Delhi metro check-in system. It was a bit of a whirlwind tour but we wanted to avoid staying in the tourist mecca of Agra and we weren’t particularly interested in Delhi. In retrospect I wish we had stayed there longer but it was fun while it lasted.
The Taj Mahal
Some things are so famous that the reality just can’t live up to the hype. The Taj Mahal, on the other hand, measured up to expectations. I actually got quite emotional as we were approaching it. The iconic white marble mausoleum framed against the clear blue sky serves as an undeniable testament to Mughal opulence, passion, and style.
Our plane from Jaipur was delayed so we looked on-line for an Agra guide to help speed things up when we got there. He got us in using some sort of magic spell. I have no idea how we would have managed otherwise.
This video shows a visit to the Taj Mahal and a walk around the colourful streets of Delhi.
