I love to travel, but I hate sitting on aeroplanes. It’s time to act more like a traveller and less like a tourist…
This video demonstrates the advantages of breaking up a long journey by air. It looks at two options for travelling between New Zealand and India.
The obvious solution would be to go to one of the usual websites (Google Flights or Skyscanner) and take their best recommendation. That would mean a cost of $677 and a journey time of almost 24 hours.
The solution is to break up the journey:
| From | To | Flight Time | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auckland | Sydney | 3 hr 35 min | $91 |
| Sydney | Bangkok | 9 hr 50 min | $232 |
| Bangkok | Kolkata | 2 hr 30 min | $121 |
| Total | $444 |
This not only saves $233 on flights, but more importantly provides an opportunity to break up the journey and avoid jet lag.
